Discover Design

University Design Program Rebrand

This group project focused on rebranding Swinburne University of Technology’s school holiday design program for Year 10–12 students. The aim was to create an identity that felt fun, creative and easy to recognise across both print and digital contexts.

Working collaboratively with Anar Baasanbat, Caitlin Gmehling, Maia Kjendle, Hannah Saxton and Ken Smith, we developed a new logo system based on Bauhaus-inspired geometry. I was primarily responsible for refining the final logo construction and establishing the brand guidelines, including the rules for scaling, colour application and layout. The identity was designed to work effectively across printed materials, social media communication and event signage.

Layout showing the four variations of the Discover Design logo: primary horizontal, alternative horizontal, vertical, and icon-only.

The identity includes 4 cohesive variations of the Discover Design logo, each suited to different contexts and applications.

The primary horizontal Discover Design logo, featuring a geometric icon symbolising a ‘d’ and a bold, curved sans serif wordmark, shown with its underlying construction grid and guidelines visible.

The final logo was refined through a precise geometric construction process to ensure clarity and consistency at all scales.

Brand guidelines document page showing four Discover Design logo colour variations: full colour on white, full colour on red, black and white, and reversed black and white.

The identity includes 4 colour variations to maintain flexibility across print and digital environments.

Brand guidelines document page showing the colour palette: Swinburne Red, black, white, and grey.

The colour palette aligns with Swinburne’s existing visual identity to ensure brand recognition and continuity.

Brand guidelines document page showing the brand typography, Joost Bold, a bold, curved geometric sans serif font.

Joost Bold was selected for its strong geometric forms, reflecting the modernist principles of the Bauhaus movement.

Brand guidelines document page showing logo misuse examples, including applying outlines, distorting the logo, and placing it on low-contrast backgrounds.

Correct and incorrect logo usage rules are defined to help maintain visual consistency across applications.

Additional guidelines are provided for applying logo variations to both colour and black-and-white imagery.

Mockup showing a man wearing a red T-shirt with a large central Discover Design logo icon, and a woman wearing a white T-shirt with a small vertical logo on the left chest while holding a red notebook with the logo centred on the cover.
Mockup of various Discover Design stickers in red, black, and white, each featuring different logo variations.
Mockup of a white tote bag featuring the primary full-colour Discover Design logo centred on the front.

Print-ready collateral was produced to support program promotion and participant engagement, including T-shirts, stickers and a tote bag.
