Originally founded in 1907, Venezia FC is an Italian football club based in Venice, with a history spanning Italy’s top three divisions. The club is best known for its unique lagoon-side stadium and distinctive visual identity, combining deep ties to Venetian history with a contemporary, fashion-led approach to branding that has gained international recognition.
This project explores a series of concept football kits that translate Venezia FC’s identity into modern kit design. Drawing inspiration from the city’s architecture, waterways, and cultural heritage, the designs focus on subtle symbolism, refined colour palettes, and considered pattern work. The aim was to create kits that feel authentic to Venice and the club while remaining clean, contemporary, and wearable within a modern football context.
The Venezia FC home, away, and third kit concepts form a cohesive set that translates the club’s identity, Venetian heritage, and bold symbolism into a unified modern kit system.
The Venezia FC home shirt concept blends the club’s traditional colours with a refined, fashion-led aesthetic inspired by Venetian artistry. A black base is overlaid with a gold geometric pattern influenced by the intricate floral motifs found in historic Venetian tiles. Central vertical stripes of orange and green, separated by a thin black line, run down the front of the shirt, dividing the pattern symmetrically. A gold-toned club badge and manufacturer logo, paired with a black-and-gold sponsor, complete the look.
The gold pattern extends onto the sleeves, while the collar and cuffs feature horizontal orange, black, and green bands. At the back of the collar, a narrow section of the central vertical stripes intersects the horizontal detailing. The player name and number are finished in gold, with a small embroidered winged lion of Venice placed below the collar as a final symbolic detail.
The Venezia FC away shirt concept draws inspiration from the distinctive striped shirts worn by Venice’s iconic gondoliers. A white base features thick horizontal stripes with thin gold borders, arranged in a half-and-half colour scheme of blue on the right and red on the left. This split design references the historic tradition of blue-striped gondoliers on one side of the Grand Canal and red-striped gondoliers on the other.
The half-and-half striped pattern continues on the back, with the upper section left plain white to ensure the gold player name and number are clearly legible. The crew neck collar mirrors the divided red and blue layout, while a gold-toned club badge and manufacturer logo are paired with a white and gold sponsor. A small embroidered winged lion of Venice sits below the back collar, completing the design with a subtle symbolic detail.
As part of this project, the Venezia FC club badge has been reimagined with a more traditional yet refined approach. The redesign prioritises clarity and balance, introducing greater visual depth while maintaining a clean, contemporary feel. The badge is built around a light gold shield with a thin dark gold border, inspired by Venetian heraldry. A minimalist illustration of the Rialto Bridge forms the central motif, with ‘Venezia FC’ set above and a subtle gondolier detail below, referencing the city’s waterways.
A half-orange, half-green ‘V’ shape anchors the lower section of the shield, drawing on two of the club’s traditional colours. Combined with gold detailing, the badge reflects Venezia FC’s distinctive identity and refined approach to modern football branding.
